This post uses the data visualisation tool explored in the previous post to analyse the alignment and connections between local MER programs with the SP-SC framework. This analysis is by no means exhaustive but points out some of the most outstanding features of these relationships (that occur to us at least).
- The Country Health hub is clearly the one most represented in local MER programs. This is not surprising, given that the local programs are structured from a Healthy country plan, IPA plan, or similar, which necessarily be focused on aspects of country. More might be read into this in terms of funding programs, external focus etc, but nonetheless this country health focus is definitely demonstrated here.
- The chart shows some of the less obvious, yet critical connections that existing indigenous cultures and relate the biophysical with elements of culture, society, community, and wellbeing. This can be seen in numerous connections across each of the charts. Some that are of particular note include:
- The Yuwi Value of Country includes indicators that relate to attributes within each of the SP-SC hubs, which highlights the significant and central connection between country and every aspect of Yuwi life and society, including the health/wellbeing, empowerment and education of Yuwi people.
- The Goondoi Value of Murrungurrun guwal (which means ‘speaking the voice of authority’ and represents how lore and knowledge is passed down) is their most represented and interconnected value. That it is related through numerous indicators to each of the SP-SC attributes/hubs shows its central importance to every aspect of Goondoi life, culture, empowerment and environment.
- The Value of having Wuthathi people on Wuthathi country is connected across all SP-SC hubs, which clearly demonstrates significant importance given to it. Having people on country is especially important (as demonstrated by the proportionally strong connection) to empowerment and economics, which might
