Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

ESS has work with Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to develop the Uluru Cultural Site Management System (CSMS), which is a secure digital “keeping place”, used to store and catalogue a variety of information about cultural sites located within the Park. On requiest from the Park, ESS has modified the system to allow it to also be used as an operations management tool for fieldwork associated with cultural heritage management.

The CSMS enables recording and storage of information about places, areas and objects using data entry forms. These forms are customised depending on what information is being sought by the user, with the capacity to record (among other data) text, dates, images, sound files, videos files, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.

The CSMS uses GIS and mapping technology to allow users to record and display locations of rock art sites, rock holes and any other site or area of significance using an interactive map. Information contained within the system is permanently archived and can only be accessed by authorised users
